If I had once piece of advice to give all children...

it would be to wear your retainers! I didn't and am now paying for it literally and figuratively. I just started wearing the invisalign retainers yesterday afternoon and my teeth are hurting this morning! I didn't listen to my mom when she told me to wear my retainers and now 15 years after that amazing moment when I got my braces off, I find myself visiting my orthodontist again to fix my crooked teeth. Luckily, they're not too bad, so it shouldn't take too long to fix. This time though, I will definitely wear my retainers! So if you have a child that you just spent thousands of dollars on to fix their teeth, have them read this blog so they can hopefully avoid the pain of fixing their teeth again and the pain in their wallet years down the road.

Our tour continues...

We've been touring state parks this summer for little mini-vacations. A few weeks ago we visited Mount Magazine, just south of Paris. This picture is of me standing on the official 'highest point' in Arkansas at an elevation of 2,753 feet above sea level. There are many points higher than this, of course, but what makes this park unique from other 'high elevation points' is the dramatic drop off from the mountain. It really feels like you can reach up and touch the sky you're so high in the mountain. There are some really amazing views, especially around sunset. We're headed to Withrow Springs State Park near Huntsville next. I'll let you know how the trip turns out. We're taking the dogs (2 beagles) with us this time... should be an interesting trip!

I'm moving in...

to my car. I'm sure some of you have heard that we are moving to a bigger building... a much needed bigger building... but in the meantime, I'll be commuting to Fort Smith every morning. So for the next 4 weeks, if I look a little tired, it's because I'll be getting up an hour earlier at 1 am... so bare with me! I've got my box of things/office supplies I use on a daily basis, so my mobile desk is ready to go. I'll be ready for a permanent home though. We're planning on giving you all a tour around the new building when we move in, so keep watching for that and our "official" debut in September.

Back to School reports

Sorry for the lack of posts this week, but I've been busy working on several back to school reports that air next week. If you have kids, tune in to Sunrise next week to learn about how to deal with back to school fears, especially if your child will be attending a new school or is in a classroom without their friends. I'll also have reports on dealing with extra-curricular overload, school lunch nutrition, getting back into a routine and many, many more. Hope to see you all next week for this special series. Enjoy these last few days of summer!

Need a babysitter? Check out this site...

Are you needing a night out, but can't get away because you can't find a sitter? Well, I found a neat website today that might be able to help. It's www.sittercity.com. All you have to do is type in your zip code and babysitters in your area pop up. When I searched the Fayetteville area, about 35 bios come up. The site can do background checks for you for a small fee and references are also available. Most of the sitters from the Fayetteville area were college students looking to make some cash when they're not in school. I haven't used the site or know anyone who has, but the folks on it seem to have quite a bit of experience. This site might help you get started.. at least line up a few of the sitters for interviews and hopefully one of them will work out. If you end up using this service, let me know how it turns out.
