Our tour continues...
We've been touring state parks this summer for little mini-vacations. A few weeks ago we visited Mount Magazine, just south of Paris. This picture is of me standing on the official 'highest point' in Arkansas at an elevation of 2,753 feet above sea level. There are many points higher than this, of course, but what makes this park unique from other 'high elevation points' is the dramatic drop off from the mountain. It really feels like you can reach up and touch the sky you're so high in the mountain. There are some really amazing views, especially around sunset. We're headed to Withrow Springs State Park near Huntsville next. I'll let you know how the trip turns out. We're taking the dogs (2 beagles) with us this time... should be an interesting trip!

Along the line of your state park visits, my husband and I went on a two week road trip through the southwest in August. Parks we visited were Mesa Verda National Park, Grand Canyon North Rim, Four Corners, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, Arches National Park and the California Redwoods. What an amazing trip that I highly recommend for families as they are great places to take kids. We of course just had our little dog, George (a pug) with us. We have many beautiful places in our country that so many don't get to visit!
