Happy Valentine's Day!

Forget about New Year's... let's celebrate Valentine's Day! I know it sounds funny saying that when it's still December, but if you have been out shopping the last few days, then I know you've already seen the heart-shaped items out on shelves. I even saw bathing suits out at one store. I can't even start to think about summer right now after all the extra helpings of turkey, ham and potatoes I just ate! :) Not to mention the candy.... Anyways, I had to run to the grocery story on Christmas Eve to buy a few things I had forgotten and wanted to get some more Christmas candy (since I had eaten it all already) and there wasn't much left at all... it had already been taken over by chocolates for Valentine's Day.... so much for savoring the final few days of the Christmas holiday! I hope you all had a nice holiday and have a Happy New Year as well! Enjoy while you can.. it really will be February before you know it!

Top baby names for 2007

I love when this list comes out. Jennifer was at the top of the list for years in the 70s and 80s for the most popular name. Now, it's way down on the list. A lot of the names found on this years list were in the top 10 last year, but have changed order a bit. Of course, my son's name, Jackson, keep rising each year. I tried not to do to him what was done to me -- I do love my name, but there were 5 Jennifer's in a class of about 90 people when I graduated. It could get very confusing when we were all hanging out! As it stands now, it looks like Jackson might have a few others in his class too! Here's are the Top 10 Baby Names according to BabyCenter for 2007 .. followed by the 2006 rankings.

The Biggest Giveaway Ever!

We are hoping to make your Christmas a great one this year by giving away a weekend trip to Tulsa for your family. This is truly the biggest giveaway we've ever had on Sunrise. Not only do you get $50 dollars in gas to get you to and from Tulsa, but while you're there, you'll get 4 free tickets to see the Nutcracker as well as tickets to see an Oilers game. After that long day, don't worry about driving back home, because you'll get to stay for free at an area hotel.... and that's not all! You'll also get free tickets to the Gilcrease Museum, Philbrook Museum, Sherwin Miller Museum, and passes to the Oklahoma Aquarium. Don't worry, you don't have to get it all in that weekend... most of the passes are good for a year. The Nutcracker and Tulsa Oilers game is December 15th, so make sure you are free that weekend before you enter. Oh yeah, did I mention you also win $150 in gift cards to Utica Square, the really cool outdoor shopping center in Tulsa? I only wish I was eligible for this giveaway! If you want to enter, all you have to do is tell us why your family deserves the weekend getaway to Tulsa. You can find the link on our Sunrise page. We might read the winning submission on the air! Good luck!

Reality TV lineup

The reality TV lineup just came out for the winter season and there seems to be a lot more reality shows than usual. I don't know if these were all planned to be broadcast now, or if some of the start dates were moved up because of the writers' strike.. but either way, I can't believe that some of these shows were even created in the first place! For example, there's a show called, 'My Dad is Better Than Your Dad"... seriously. I can't even imagine what that's going to be about. Here are a few others that I thought were a bit odd...

Baby Borrowers (NBC)
Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (VH1)
The Apprentice (NBC.. celebrity apprentices this time around) --- I guess the celebrities have to earn a paycheck somehow since their regulars are on hold right now
Snoop Dog's Fatherhood (E!)
Paranormal State (A&E)
Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants (CW)
Nimrod Nation (Sundance)

Now from the dancing/singing category...
Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann (ABC)
Clash of the Choirs (NBC)
American Idol (FOX)
Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew (FOX)
Can You Duet (CMT)

and from the trying to find a mate category...
Beauty and the Geek 5 (CW)
The Bachelor 12 (ABC)
Farmer Wants a Wire (CW)
Transamerican Love Story (Logo)

These are just a few of the many reality programs airing this winter. The old favorites will also be returning like Hell's Kitchen and Survivor. So despite the writer's strike, they'll still be plenty of shows to watch... whether they're good or not!
