I love my job, but would I love it even more if I was a firefighter? A new survey out of about 27,000 people across the U.S. says clergy and firefighters are more satisfied with their jobs than any other profession. Physical therapists, authors, and teachers also topped the list. In fact, most of the jobs in the top 10 were jobs that involved helping other people, so if you're looking for a new job, maybe you should take that into consideration. What I found surprising is that only 33% of people surveyed actually said they were really happy; 47% were at least satisfied with their current job... but what about everyone else? That leaves a lot of people who just don't like what they're doing... and according to the survey, those people apparently work in clothing and furniture sales as well as restaurants. Waiters and waitresses were at the very bottom of the list in job satisfaction. So if your profession is at the bottom of the list, maybe you should consider one of the following careers...

Top 10 most satisfying jobs and the percentage of subjects who said they were very satisfied with the job:

Firefighters—80 percent percent
Physical therapists—78 percent percent
Authors—74 percent
Special education teachers—70 percent
Teachers—69 percent
Education administrators—68 percent
Painters and sculptors—67 percent
Psychologists—67 percent
Security and financial services salespersons—65 percent
Operating engineers—64 percent
Office supervisors—61 percent

People who scored high on the happiness scale had the following jobs:

Clergy
Firefighters
Transportation ticket and reservation agents
Housekeepers and butlers
Hardware/building supplies salespersons
Architects
Mechanics and repairers
Special education teachers
Actors and directors
Science technicians

For those jobs right in the middle.. people who didn't love or hate their jobs.. were police officers, news reporters, and registered nurses.
