How to properly open a banana

I know what you're thinking.. "there's a right and wrong way to open a banana?" Apparently there is and I just found out that I've been doing it all wrong my entire life! As you can see from the picture, the correct way to open a banana is from what I call "the other end". A lot of us eat bananas at work and it seems the 'top' always gets mushy from trying to pry open the banana. We were discussing this yesterday and it just so happens that a new intern was starting that day. She was listening to our highly-intellectual conversation about bananas and told us it was much easier to open bananas from the other end... and she was right! Bailey, the intern, said she learned about it in anthropology class. Apparently, people in other countries open their bananas like the person shown in the picture. Anyways, what you're supposed to do is pinch the end part (see picture) and then peel it down. What I always thought was the top, serves as a nice handle to hold the banana. In case my exciting description has you going bananas trying to figure it out... check out this even more exciting video from YouTube.

I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy your blogs. I've learned several new things just from reading them. In fact, I learned something new today about peeling a banana. I'm going to give it a try.
