Super Foods

In part 2 of my Living Longer series, Dietitian Cissy Wilmoth mentioned 'super foods' should also be a part of your well-balanced diet. Certain foods, like walnuts and oats, are considered super foods because of the antioxidants, nutrients, anti-cancer compounds, fiber, and omega 3 fatty acids they contain. These nutrient rich foods can help our immune system, which in turn, helps us fight disease. Here's a list of the best super foods offering health protection that should be included in your diet:

Beans
Blueberries
Broccoli
Oats
Oranges
Pumpkin
Salmon
Soy
Spinach
Tea (green or black)
Tomatoes
Turkey
Walnuts
Yogurt

You can view the entire Living Longer series on the web. Just look in our video section on our Sunrise page (you can find it right above the link for this blog).
